ICT as Medium for Teaching/Learning
How Information and Communication and Technology (ICT) has transformed the educational methodologies when you were in grade school and now in senior high school.
Consider the following for comparison.
A. The singing of the National Anthem(form a line, sing the national anthem with conductor)
-Previously, the singing of the national anthem required a teacher to sing as a guide for the students to follow the singing of the National Anthem, but now, teachers simply bring a speaker and let it play the National Anthem for the students to follow.
B. Presentation of visual aids
-I could recall how many manila papers our Sibika at Kultura teacher instructed us to write. Back in elementary school, Manila papers and Cartolina were common visual aids. In senior high school, it is much easier for teachers and students to present their visual aids via PowerPoint Presentation using Zoom or Google Meet's features such as Share Screen.
C. Class Record
-Teachers used to keep a class record with them at all times when I was in elementary school. A piece of paper with columns and rows on which he/she records everything. However, now that they are in senior high school, it has been made very simple for them. They only need to enter the scores and all of the numerical data into MS Excel, and the computer will do the rest.
D. Class Dismissal
-In elementary school, we were taught to line up and be dismissed one by one. However, in senior high school, we are dismissed when the teacher says "goodbye class!" on the screen, and everyone responds "goodbye Ma'am/Sir."
E. Assignment and Research
-During my grade school years, I usually did my assignments and research on my own, using books as references because I didn't know how to use a computer at the time, and when I really struggled, I sought assistance from my parents. However, in senior high school, it is easier to answer assignments and conduct research using the various resources available on the internet.
